Emageon buys Camtronics
Emageon Inc. this week acquired from Analogic Corp. all the stock of its subsidiary Camtronics Medical Systems Ltd. The acquisition totaled $40 million in cash and included all of Camtronics' assets, including its corporate headquarters building in Hartland, Wis.
Camtronics Medical Systems should give Emageon an earnings boost once the dust settles. In 2004 Camtronics was named by Frost and Sullivan as one of the top five cardiology-system vendors in the U.S. The combined customer base of the two organizations will now add up to approximately 600 medical facilities.
The addition of Camtronics to Emageon's enterprise solution completes the next phase in Emageon's vision to provide comprehensive, standards-based content management, workflow, and advanced visualization to healthcare facilities, said Chuck Jett, Chairman and CEO of Emageon. Adding, "As the industry's only independent enterprise-class medical image management solution, we believe adding workflow capabilities for additional clinical domains such as cardiology enhances our overall value proposition."
