Former Philips exec van Terheyden joins M*Modal as CMO

Nick van Terheyden, MD, has joined M*Modal as chief medical officer (CMO), adding extensive healthcare industry experience to M*Modal, the company said.

van Terheyden was formerly the CMO at Philips Speech Recognition Systems/Philips Healthcare Informatics, SoftMed Systems and Speech Machines, and helped to build the companies’ healthcare strategy and thought leadership positioning. Prior to that, he was director of communications at Mount Sinai Medical Center where he created and implemented the information technology infrastructure acting as the main liaison between clinicians and emerging technology, according to M*Modal.

“The whole DNA of the company, from the team to the unique technology, is about evolving healthcare documentation to allow physicians to capture clinical information in a structured and encoded form directly from dictation. I’m thrilled to join the team and look forward to advancing M*Modal’s position as a leader and a catalyst for the accelerated adoption of the EHR,” said van Terheyden.
