HIMSS: GE to highlight eHealth platform

At HIMSS10 in Atlanta during the first week of March, GE Healthcare (Booth #7039) will unveil and highlight remote monitoring technologies that assist point of care decision making.

GE will launch the first phase of a technology that puts clinical data and treatment practices in the hands of clinicians so they can make informed decisions at the point of care. The decision support infrastructure will enable even small or remote healthcare organizations and clinicians to make treatment decisions based on clinical best practices, according to the company.

For clinical decision making at the bedside, GE said it will highlight the Carescape Monitor B850, which integrates patient monitoring with hospital information systems (e.g. EMRs, lab results, diagnostic images).

Also, the company said its new eHealth division tackles the challenge of accessing clinical information trapped in disparate IT systems across multiple institutions, by providing a standards-based health information exchange framework to connect to other care providers and their patients. It also said the eHealth suite of solutions, including the Centricity platform, allows the secure sharing of health information and improves care by equipping providers with patient data.
