HIMSS names Garets to lead subsidiary

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) appointed David E. Garets as president and CEO of the new HIMSS subsidiary company that will provide research and information services to the healthcare information technology fields.

When Garets formally assumes the new role May 1, he will resign as chairman of the HIMSS Board of Directors.

Garets currently is executive vice president of Healthlink Inc., but will leave that post to take over the HIMSS subsidiary. He also has served as a faculty member for executive education courses offered by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).

The new subsidiary will provide research and information services to the healthcare IT field.
