IDX promotes two top executives

IDX Systems Corp. this week announced two executive promotions.

The healthcare IT company elevated Thomas W. Butts to president and COO from his posts of president and general manager of the IDX Flowcast operating unit. He has held those duties since joining IDX in January 2002.

Butts previously spent 17 years in several leadership positions in sales and marketing at GE Medical Systems. During that time he also was the vice president of GE OEC Medical Systems.

IDX also promoted Stephen C. Gorman to president and general manager of the company's Groupcast operating unit, which provides practice management and electronic data interchange services to more than 550 small to mid-size physician group practice customers.

Gorman joined IDX in 1991. Since 1999, he has served as vice president and general manager of Groupcast. Prior to joining IDX, Gorman was employed by the Putnam Companies.
