MedCurrent Announces Agreement with National Decision Support Company

TORONTO, ONTARIO – June 19, 2013 – MedCurrent Corporation, a provider of clinical decision support solutions (CDS), announced that it has signed an agreement with the National Decision Support Company (NDSC). MedCurrent customers will have access to ACR Select, the digitally consumable version of the American College of Radiology (ACR) Appropriateness Criteria®. The ACR Criteria will provide ordering clinicians with evidence based guidelines for selecting the most appropriate imaging study for their patients, assuring the right radiology exam is performed and reducing unnecessary tests and radiation exposure. The appropriateness criteria will be utilized within MedCurrent’s OrderRight, its proprietary decision support user interface.

“We are very pleased to offer our clients digital access to these deeply researched imaging criteria, bringing the utmost confidence to ordering physicians who utilize our OrderRight decision support solution,” said Stephen Herman, MD, founder and Chief Medical Officer, MedCurrent Corporation. "Combined with our easy-to-use platform and flexible ordering system, OrderRight delivers the information at the moment it is most needed – at the point of clinical decision-making. Embedding the ACR Select criteria into the order entry process ensures optimal diagnostic care for every patient. We are pleased that our customers will benefit from the years of evidence-based research from the ACR in making these criteria available to clinicians.”

ACR Select represents a “national standard” with imaging topics that have been developed by expert panels of physicians from different medical specialties under the guidance of the ACR. NDSC is the exclusive licensing agent of the ACR and provides support of the guidelines through the ACR Select platform.

“NDSC provides the technical platform, support, and licensing of digitally consumable CDS that continuously educates providers regarding the latest evidence-based approach to medicine without disrupting the doctor-patient relationship or delaying needed care.” Said Thomas Conti, NDSC’s SVP Technical Strategy. “We are pleased that MedCurrent will make this crucial information available to its customers.”
