MeVis launches new CAD system for lung CT

MeVis Medical Solutions has released the Visia CT lung system, a computer-aided detection (CAD), advanced visualization and lung-nodule analysis application for CT image data.

Visia’s CAD technology improves the detection of actionable lung nodules during review of multi-slice CT chest exams and serves as the physician's second reader by examining the CT images and automatically marking areas that warrant further examination.

The introduction of Visia follows the recent acquisition by MeVis of the CT business of Santa Clara, Calif.-based R2 Technology, which included applicable CT CAD products, technology and intellectual property, according to the Pewaukee, Wis.-based company.
