Minnesota seeks to expand EHR usage with $3.5M in grants
The state of Minnesota has awarded 16 grants totaling $3.5 million to help rural or small-town provider organizations implement EHRs.
The state has instituted a law requiring providers to use EHRs by 2015. Hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, mental health practices and other medical facilities received the grants.
Under the Interconnected EHR Grant Program, seven organizations received planning and readiness grants ranging from $23,000 to $50,000, and nine organizations received implementation grants of $89,000 to $650,000.
The current application deadline for fiscal 2008 funding is Dec. 1. The program also offers six-year, no-interest loans of up to $1.5 million.
