ONCHIT names Friedman as deputy health IT coordinator

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONCHIT) has named Charles Friedman as deputy national coordinator for health IT.

ONCHIT said the deputy's job as operations officer will be to focus on the office's health IT initiatives.

Friedman has maintained the role of senior adviser to the national coordinator, Robert Kolodner. Previously, he was associate director for research informatics and IT at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. Freidman was also professor and associate vice chancellor for biomedical informatics at the University of Pittsburgh.
