Riverain debuts Softview chest imaging tool
Riverain Medical unveiled its Softview chest imaging technology at the 94th annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) in Chicago last month.
Softview creates a soft tissue image by suppressing bone on a standard digital chest x-ray, which reveals enhanced soft tissue images that can be deployed enterprise wide. The company also said that the application works with all digital chest x-rays.
Riverain touts that the technology enables a clearer secondary view to improve visibility of both normal and abnormal anatomical structures in the chest. The secondary soft tissue image is automatically included in the patient record.
According to the company, the application could help detect and diagnose such medical conditions as: pulmonary nodules; pneumothoraces; and improperly placed lines or tubes.
Softview is available in Europe and Canada, but is currently pending FDA approval in the United States.
