Cardiac Imaging

While cardiac ultrasound is the widely used imaging modality for heart assessments, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and nuclear imaging are also used and are often complimentary, each offering specific details about the heart other modalities cannot. For this reason the clinical question being asked often determines the imaging test that will be used.

SSM Health Hospital is One of First in U.S. to Install New DRX-Evolution Plus Imaging System

ROCHESTER, N.Y., April 5 — SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital - Lake Saint Louis (Mo.) is one of the first hospitals in the United States to install a new CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution Plus to enhance the imaging process for its emergency department patients. The hospital’s radiology team installed a wall stand on a rail with a fixed DRX detector while a DRX Plus 3543 Detector is used in the table and for tabletop exams.

FDA warns of interference between CT imaging and electronic medical devices

The FDA issued a safety alert on March 31 announcing that it had received a small number of adverse events that it believes are associated with CT imaging of insulin pumps, cardiac implantable electronic devices (pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators) and neurostimulators.
