Siemens Medical Solutions showed an increase in both total revenue and profit for its fiscal 2008 second quarter, which ended March 31.

For the period, the group saw its worldwide total revenue rise to €2.7 billion ($4.2 billion) from €2.5 billion ($3.9 billion) for the equivalent quarter in fiscal 2007. Group profit for the business segment also demonstrated strong growth, with the current period showing €341 million ($531 million) in profit in comparison with second quarter results the prior fiscal year of €332 million ($517 million).

The company noted that its medical imaging and IT business continued to deliver strong profitability despite increasing challenges in market conditions.
