Data Storage acquires SafeData, expands product line

Data Storage has acquired SafeData, a Warwick, R.I-based technology company, for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition of SafeData will allow Data Storage to expand its current technology, including data backup and recovery, digital archiving and host exchange to the IBM iSeries, leveraging SafeData's high availability, data recovery and telecom recovery technology.

SafeData will operate as a division of Data Storage, remaining in Warwick, and continuing to serve its existing clients with its SafeData/HA, SafeData/DR and SafeData/TR products, according to Data Storage, of Garden City, N.Y.

Peter Briggs will continue as president of the SafeData unit and will hold the position of executive vice president with Data Storage. Larry Putterman, chairman of SafeData, will serve on the Data Storage board of directors.
