Physio-Control acquires maker of Lucas

Physio-Control, a subsidiary of Medtronic, has acquired privately held Jolife, developer of the Lucas chest compression system, headquartered in Lund, Sweden.

Prior to the acquisition, Physio-Control was the exclusive distribution partner for the Lucas device since 2004. According to Physio-Control, the Jolife acquisition augments its existing emergency medical response technologies and complements its current defibrillation technologies.

Terms of the agreement are not being disclosed.

Of note, the parent company, Medtronic, reiterated its intention to divest Physio-Control amid its recently released third quarter financial results.
