Roper inks $1.4B purchase of Sunquest
Roper is buying Tucson, Ariz.-based Sunquest from investment firms Huntsman Gay Global Capital and Vista Equity Partners. Vista has owned the company since 2007; Huntsman bought a major stake in 2010. Sunquest sells clinical and anatomic laboratory information systems and has more than 1,700 hospital clients, according to the company's release.
Sarasota, Fla.-based Roper owns more than 30 companies serving four core sectors: industrial technology, energy systems, medical and scientific imaging systems and radiofrequency identification technology. The company's medical products include ultrasound systems, laryngoscopes and other viewing tools, computer-assisted surgery systems, spectrographs and medical carts and portable computers from its DAP Technologies unit.
Roper expects Sunquest to contribute significantly to earnings beginning immediately, and projects 12 to 14 cents per share in earnings from Sunquest during the second half of 2012. The companies expect the acquisition to close within 30 days.
