SIIM 2011 adds new learning tracks
The Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) has announced its eight Learning Tracks for the SIIM 2011 annual meeting, to be held in Washington, D.C., June 2-5, 2011.
The Learning Tracks have been re-engineered to provide the tools necessary to deal with real-world concerns and new requirements. Each of the learning tracks will include an educational session, an applied learning session and a scientific session, providing attendees with multi-dimensional learning environments.
Education Sessions
The Practical Imaging Informatics Learning Track content is woven throughout each Learning Track, according to the Leesburg, Va.-based organization. Each Education Session will define a problem and identify what the audience is currently dealing with at their institutions. The faculty will then present best practices, what is practical to do today, and how to get from A to B. The sessions will close by peeking into the future to see what is coming up next and reviewing new developments on the horizon.
Applied Learning Sessions
Applied Learning session moderators will assess audience experience (type/level of hospital environment, etc.), before engaging participants in interactive problem-solving. Last year, SIIM introduced vendor tie-in applied learning sessions. Vendor tie-in sessions will expand to five learning tracks in 2011, providing additional platforms for stimulating exchange between vendors and attendees.
Scientific Sessions
The Scientific Program represents the science at the heart of the annual meeting. This year’s program will include scientific papers that have undergone a peer-reveiwed process and are sure to promote knowledge exchange and debate among peers. The scientific program will also feature poster and demonstration exhibits on display throughout the meeting in the Shared Learning Community, located in the exhibit hall.
