SIIM: Sectra demonstrates web-based PACS

 MINNEAPOLIS--Sectra touted new capabilities of its web-based PACS IDS7 during the Society of Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) annual meeting last week.

According to Sectra’s Director Marketing Brian Anderson, the highlights include:
  • Database architecture treats image data as multi-dimensional volumes;
  • RapidConnect, data streaming and image compression that transfers image data over low-bandwidth networks and enables 3D manipulation before data has been loaded to benefit remote reading situations and enable diagnostic functionality at any workstation; and
  • Updates to worklist management, hanging protocols and navigation of patient information.

Positron, a New York-based nuclear imaging company, will now provide Upbeat Cardiology Solutions with advanced PET/CT systems and services.

The nuclear imaging isotope shortage of molybdenum-99 may be over now that the sidelined reactor is restarting. ASNC's president says PET and new SPECT technologies helped cardiac imaging labs better weather the storm.

CMS has more than doubled the CCTA payment rate from $175 to $357.13. The move, expected to have a significant impact on the utilization of cardiac CT, received immediate praise from imaging specialists.
