Zimmer is headquartered in Warsaw, Ind., and has operations around the world. Along with orthopedics, the company is active in the spinal, trauma and dental markets.

Synvasive is based in Reno, Nev., and specializes in surgical cutting products.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
