When it comes to recognizing the symbiotic benefits of mentorship for both parties involved, most directors of residency programs in interventional radiology are all in. And yet few programs have the wherewithal to put their enthusiasm into action.

Raleigh Radiology Blue Ridge had previously halted all mammography exams after an ACR and FDA review found technical quality issues in a set of its images.

The grant will go toward the Duke Radiation Oncology and Radiology Stimulating Access to Research in Residency program, which pairs students with professors on the cutting edge of the university's medical research.

“This pioneering effort leverages evidence-based guidelines and the consensus of medical experts in a new and powerful way to optimize care for military veterans,” said Theodore L. DeWeese, MD, chair of ASTRO's board.

The Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research, which includes the American College of Radiology and Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, is pushing for a bump to the institute's budget.

Researchers analyzed chargemasters and websites for the top-20 ranked U.S. academic hospitals and determined most are doing the bare minimum to offer digestible pricing information to patients.

Officials noted that the product line is no longer seen as a "strategic fit" for the Amsterdam-based company.
