The American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) and the American Urological Association (AUA) have updated their clinical guidelines for adjuvant and salvage radiotherapy following prostatectomy.

"This study only answers the question about whether, in the first 12 months after diagnosis, costs of gene testing are likely to be offset by savings in avoided costs of chemotherapy—and the answer is yes," wrote authors of a new study published in JNCI.

“Given that health care systems are limited in their financial resources, competing surveillance strategies should be analyzed for their cost-effectiveness," wrote Paulo Henrique Lima and colleagues, in an April 17 study published in the American Journal of Roentgenology.
