Carestream endorses new Intel processors

Health IT company Carestream Health has been working with Intel to test the capacity and responsiveness of the company’s Xeon processor E7 family for usage in medical imaging.

Carestream and Intel conducted tests on Carestream’s SuperPACS, simulating the responsiveness of the processors to high levels of physician demand. “These tests indicate the new high-performance processors can equip Carestream Health’s PACS and SuperPACS Architecture to deliver responsive access to a larger number of users per server,” said Carestream, which is based in Rochester, N.Y. Carestream said the more advanced processors provided more frames per second, ostensibly reducing the number of servers required for a given level of activity.
