Crosson, former Kaiser Permanente physician, to chair MedPAC

The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) will have a new member and a new chair after appointments were made last week.

Francis “Jay” Crosson, MD, a former physician and physician executive with Kaiser Permanente will assume the role of MedPAC chair, replacing Glenn Hackbarth, JD, MA. Crosson currently serves on the National Advisory Council of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Crosson previously served on MedPAC from 2004 to 2010, included as Vice Chair from 2009 to 2010.

Susan Thompson, senior VP of integration and optimization at UnityPoint Health in West Des Moines, Iowa, has joined the commission as a new member.

Crosson’s term expires in 2017, while Thompson’s will be up in 2018.
