EMC, VMware build private cloud for multi-site N.Y. health system

Orange Regional Medical Center (ORMC), a 450-bed multi-facility hospital system based in Middletown, N.Y., has deployed tools from EMC and VMware to build a private cloud environment to manage and meet business and clinical needs.

ORMC is currently consolidating two existing campuses into a freestanding hospital, said EMC, based in Hopkinton, Mass. Since deploying VMware's vSphere, ORMC has virtualized more than 80 percent of its servers, according to EMC.

To store and retrieve EMRs and other clinical and business information, ORMC also implemented EMC CLARiiON and EMC Celerra storage platforms with solid state drives (SSDs), EMC added.
