GE installs 1st Centricity PACS SE in Canada

GE Healthcare today announced a six-year Centricity PACS SE contract with Norfolk General Hospital in Simcoe, Ontario, Canada. The 121-bed hospital is the first site outside of the United States to install the PACS SE system.

With a recent expansion and redevelopment of its diagnostic imaging department, Norfolk General Hospital decided to install PACS to help with the additional work volume, GE said. The site will have six dedicated PACS workstations through the facility, paper scanning and Centricity Digital Hard Copy for automated CD burning, which will create a paperless and filmless work environment.

Centricity PACS SE includes the key features and functionality of GE's Centricity PACS Enterprise Edition, yet is scaled specifically to meet the needs of community hospitals and imaging centers. The system allows healthcare providers to have a fully integrated turn-key PACS, based on the market leading Centricity platform, at an affordable price. All software, hardware, and assembly are completed prior to shipping.  From installation to implementation, the design focuses on simplification and "faster to filmless" deployment processes.
