Lawyer for N.J. imaging center calls for seized assets to be released
The lawyer representing Diagnostic Imaging Affiliates, a New Jersey company managing a number of imaging facilities that were raided by authorities in June, is asking for assets seized from the imaging centers to be released.
Rehan Zuberi, the owner of Diagnostic Imaging Affiliates, was arrested as part of a Medicaid fraud investigation. Referring physicians were allegedly paid kickbacks to send patients to facilities run by Diagnostic Imaging Affiliates, and Zuberi was charged with failure to pay taxes, failure to file an income tax return, deception, bribery and racketeering.
Riz Dagli, the attorney representing Zuberi, filed a civil motion to have the assets released in order to allow Diagnostic Imaging Affiliates to pay vendors and employees, as well as give patients access to their medical records, according to a report in The Star-Ledger.
Judge Stephan Hansbury will make a ruling on the request next week, according to The Star-Ledger.
