RSNA: MedQuist highlights Poiesis acquisition

MedQuist, the integrated clinical documentation system developer based in Franklin, Tenn., has acquired Poiesis Informatics and the inclusion of Poiesis technology was displayed at the 97th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) in Chicago Nov. 27 to Dec. 2.

The acquisition of Poiesis came on the heels of a merger between MedQuist and M*Modal earlier this year.

Poiesis’ goal is optimizing radiology workflow and its Workflow Orchestration Suite (WOS) provides interoperability between disparate systems and supports complex workflow models.

The three main components of WOS are:
  • Catalyst – an enterprise unified worklist that provides a consolidated view into multi-site, multi-vendor environments.
  • Fluency – a clinical documentation tool that leverage M*Modal’s Speech Understanding technology.
  • Scout – a business analytics tool with statistical measures for monitoring performance, quality and safety.

The new technology shows early potential to make a significant impact on imaging workflows and patient care.

Richard Heller III, MD, RSNA board member and senior VP of policy at Radiology Partners, offers an overview of policies in Congress that are directly impacting imaging.

The two companies aim to improve patient access to high-quality MRI scans by combining their artificial intelligence capabilities.
