Siemens scores Soarian install

Siemens Medical Solutions will deploy its new generation healthcare information system Soarian at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center, a 321-bed acute care facility in East Patchogue, N.Y.

According to Siemens, the agreement includes Soarian clinical team, common clinicals and clinical access, as well as Soarian cardiology, computerized physician order entry (CPOE), and Siemens med administration check, which uses bar code technology to alert nurses to potential medication administration errors.

Soarian integrates clinical, financial, diagnostic and administrative processes to support patient-centered care. "Soarian clinical access will allow our staff to view a person's complete lifetime clinical history," said Brookhaven CIO Donald Fleming. "Common clinicals will generate reminders and alerts to potential medication reactions and food allergy reactions. And the CPOE module will provide tools for the physicians to plan and manage the care of patients."
