U.K. hospital taps Siemens CT and imaging systems
Western General Hospital has installed Siemens Healthcare’s SOMATOM Definition AS+ CT and ordered the company’s syngo.via imaging software for multi-modality clinical image reporting.
The Edinburgh-based hospital, part of National Health Service Lothian's University Hospitals Division, is using the system for neuroimaging, neuro perfusion, neuro intervention, spinal work, angiography and body scanning of the pelvis, head and neck.
Since installing the Definition AS+, the system’s intervention package has enabled radiologists to visualize more than one image plane at a time and provided the necessary detail for direct control of needle positions, Siemens shared. The Definition’s temporal resolution of up to 150 ms, combined with increased coverage per rotation, delivers image acquisition that is free of movement artifacts, according to Erlangen, Germany-based Siemens.
