FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb is resigning. Gottlieb has manned the agency since May 2017 and will leave his position in about a month.

Olivia Mueller is one of 14 kids who have received a 3D-printed model of their own brain as a thank you for participating in an MRI study at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada, according to a story from the university.

The sensors, detailed in a study published online March 1 in Science, provide data as accurate as that from traditional, and often wire-heavy monitoring systems. They also have adhesives that are gentler on a newborn’s skin and allow for more physical bonding between the baby and parent.   

A radiologist in Tennessee has filed a federal class action lawsuit against the American Board of Radiology (ABR) that alleges the ABR is in violation of antitrust laws.

"The takeaway here is that screening does matter, and the expansion of Medicaid has increased usage of colon cancer screening for many Kentuckians who otherwise wouldn't have had access," wrote authors of a Feb. 22 study published in the Journal of the American College of Surgeons.

A screen-printed 12-channel pediatric MRI coil produced images with comparable quality and similar signal-to-noise ratio as those produced by a traditional 32-channel coil. Pediatric patients and their providers preferred the screen-printed coil for its flexibility and comfort.

General Electric (GE) may be halting its plan for an initial public offering (IPO) of its healthcare sector in 2019, GE Chairman and CEO Larry Culp told CNBC on Feb. 25. The announcement came after the company made a deal to sell its biopharma business to Danaher for $21.4 billion.
