Prior to the Dec. 15 announcement, CMS had released a different statement in June informing the public that they were reconsidering the amount of PET scans that Alzheimer’s patients undergoing monoclonal antibody treatment can receive.

A recent analysis found that a significant amount of studies do not provide information pertaining to their raw data, source code or model. As a result, up to 97% of these studies do not produce systems that are fit to be used in real-world clinical scenarios. 

Prior to 2018, it was recommended that women at higher-than-average risk undergo supplemental breast MRI screening only if they had a personal history of breast cancer in addition to carrying a hereditary breast cancer gene mutation.

Use of the template, which included PCP notifications, also resulted in an increase of biochemical testing, follow-up imaging and specialist referrals in patients with incidental adrenal masses.

These notifications can sometimes leave many patients feeling even more bewildered about their mammogram results than they were before being made aware of their dense tissue.

The applications for VR/AR devices are wide-ranging, and could be particularly beneficial in underserved areas where patients have less access to care and clinicians have fewer opportunities to train.

Many patients are unaware of factors that influence how they are billed, such as ancillary fees and organizational setups that use parties offsite to interpret imaging studies. In turn, the pricing information patients receive prior to exams is often incomplete.
