Challenging Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardias

Sunday, April 3, 8:00-9:30 AM

Supraventricular tachycardias (SVT) include atrial and AV tachyarrhythmias. Atrial tachyarrhythmias include sinus tachycardia, inappropriate sinus tachycardia, sinus nodal reentrant tachycardia, atrial tachycardia, multifocal atrial tachycardia, atrial flutter and atrial fibrillation.

AV tachyarrhythmias include AV nodal reentrant tachycardia, AV reentrant tachycardia, junctional ectopic tachycardia and nonparoxysmal junctional tachycardia.

SVTs occur in people of all ages. They can be caused by stressors such as prescribed medications or illicit drugs, as well as anxiety and certain structural heart problems. Acute treatment includes electrical cardioversion, while longer-term treatment includes medications, pacemaker implantation or catheter ablation.

This sessions will help clarify this topic for cardiologists and cardiac EPs alike. The session has plenty of Q/A opportunities, as well as automatic response surveys to gauge participant's knowledge.
