ACC Past-Prez James T. Dove dies of pancreatic cancer
American College of Cardiology (ACC) Past-President James T. Dove, MD, passed away Nov. 7 in Springfield, Ill. Dove succumbed to pancreatic cancer after a year-long struggle, according to the ACC.
Dove was the founding partner of Prairie Cardiovascular Consultants, an organization designed as a regional referral center in central Illinois. Today, Prairie has more than 47 board-certified physicians and 35 clinic sites throughout Illinois.
At the time of his death, Dove was a clinical professor of medicine in the division of cardiology at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield. He served as chief of the division of cardiology from 1991 until 1999. Dove also was involved in clinical research and served until 2005 on the board of directors of the Prairie Education and Research Cooperative, a practice-funded, non-profit research foundation.
"His absence leaves a great chasm in all of our hearts with our collective thoughts are now focused on Jim's family and loved ones," said ACC President Ralph G. Brindis, MD.
