ACR releases 2018 digital mammography quality control manual
The 2018 American College of Radiology (ACR) Digital Mammography Quality Control Manual for digital breast tomosynthesis has been published online, and accredited facilities can access the manual at no charge, according to an ACR press release published Nov. 19. Individuals not associated with ACR-accredited facilities may purchase the manual from the ACR Catalog.
“The new 2018 Digital Mammography QC Manual will promote uniformity and consistency of QC procedures across the broad spectrum of FDA approved manufacturers,” Eric Berns, PhD manual author and chair of the ACR Subcommittee on Mammography Quality Assurance, said in the same release.
“The new manual includes quality control procedures that cover both 2D mammography and DBT, allowing a single, unified, quality control program for all facilities no matter what type of unit they have,” Berns added.
The manual has been sent to mammography facilities accredited by the ACR, and free webinars on how to use it are currently being developed, according to the release.
