Agfa highlights new cardiology system at ACC

Agfa Healthcare will highlight its new cardiology image and information management system at American College of Cardiology's annual scientific meeting next week (March 7-9) in New Orleans.

Agfa's Impax for Cardiology is an integration of Agfa's PACS (picture archiving and communications system) with cardiology information management components provided through a technology cooperation between Agfa and Heartlab Inc., of Westerly, R.I. The two companies initiated their partnership at the end of 2003.

Impax for Cardiology is designed to help digitize the cardiology department and meet the distinct image review and reporting needs of cardiologists. Giving physicians access anytime, anywhere, the system is also enterprise-enabled. Cardiologists can view, analyze and interpret images and reports from their office, an offsite clinic or from home.

"By integrating Heartlab's technology into Agfa's Impax enterprise PACS system, we've eliminated many of the barriers to efficient and effective information sharing and created an advanced system that answers the needs of both radiology and cardiology," says Jon Elion, MD, chief medical officer and co-founder of Heartlab.
