CoActiv reveals plans to showcase new PACS offering at RSNA

CoActiv Medical Business Solutions, a recently formed affiliated business of Amsys Inc of Ridgefield, Conn., will introduce its new Exam-PACS at the annual Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) conference Nov. 30 - Dec. 2 in Chicago, Ill.

Exam-PACS is an affordable image management system for imaging centers and hospitals that previously found them to be cost prohibitive. The system achieves its cost savings through the readily available and inexpensive PCs and PC servers. The system is built upon a series of DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) compliant software applications and PC components.

Its configuration allows imaging centers to select just the components they need to build a PACS (picture archiving communications system) that meets their immediate image handling requirements and budget. Additional workstations or functionality can be included later.

CMS has more than doubled the CCTA payment rate from $175 to $357.13. The move, expected to have a significant impact on the utilization of cardiac CT, received immediate praise from imaging specialists.

The newly cleared offering, AutoChamber, was designed with opportunistic screening in mind. It can evaluate many different kinds of CT images, including those originally gathered to screen patients for lung cancer.
