New Contracts for GE, McKesson, Radlink, Siemens, Varian
GE Healthcare announced that Partners in Practice — a management firm in Barrington, Ill., that helps physician practices improve organizational efficiency — plans to install GE’s Centricity Group Management (formerly IDX Groupcast), further enhancing their ability to provide best-in-class financial management and financial decision support services.
Henry County Medical Center, a 142-bed hospital located in Paris, Tenn., recently selected McKesson's Paragon community hospital information system to help caregivers provide safer, more efficient care through the use of EHRs. The medical center will deploy Paragon’s comprehensive, integrated clinical and financial solution, along with McKesson's medical imaging and document imaging systems.
The new radiotherapy center Equip Modern Cancer Clinic in northeastern Belgium plans to install Varian Medical Systems’ Clinac linear accelerators at its new department in Genk and a third accelerator that will replace an older machine at Hasselt. Both sites will also have Varian’s ARIA information and image management system and Eclipse treatment planning systems. The systems should be operational by April 2007.
Philips Medical Systems speech recognition technology SpeechMagic will be implemented with the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system of Norway’s Health Region South (HES). As a result of the deal, Philips will hold a 25 percent of the country’s EPR market, the company said. In other Philips news, the company today announced that NASA is using the Philips iE33 echocardiography system and QLAB Quantification software to evaluate the effects of space flight on the hearts of Space Shuttle astronauts and, in the near future, astronauts on the International Space Station and ground-based analogs. Of interest to NASA researchers is the loss of heart mass brought on by space flight.
Radlink, a supplier of affordable medical imaging systems to healthcare providers, announced that it has signed an agreement with Flowood, Miss.-based Mid-South Medical Imaging to serve as master distributor of its 0003CR Pro machine to healthcare organizations in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and parts of western Tennessee. The CR Pro utilizes Radlink’s sealed fiber-optic laser technology (patent pending) to deliver high-resolution, diagnostic-quality digital x-ray images.
Siemens Medical Solutions announced that Scott & White of Temple, Texas, a large multi-specialty physician practice, has signed an agreement with Siemens to be its provider of NextGen Healthcare’s electronic medical record (NextGen EMR) system.
