Contracts: CareTech, Kodak, McKesson, Neurostar, Siemens, Streamline Health Solutions, TriZetto

CareTech Solutions has signed a comprehensive IT outsourcing contract with Wisconsin’s Holy Family Memorial health network which includes an in-patient facility, outpatient campus, primary and specialty care clinics and retail pharmacies serving Manitowoc County residents and employers. It is expected that the agreement will accelerate enhanced patient care initiatives for the health network and its 15 northeastern Wisconsin facilities


Eastman Kodak Company’s Health Group signed contracts for its Kodak Carestream PACS and Kodak Carestream RIS Solutions with several North American healthcare facilities including: Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital (Carleton Place, Ontario) ordered a Carestream PACS and one Directview CR 975 System; Clinique Pierrefonds (Montreal, Canada) purchased a Carestream RIS, Carestream PACS and two Kodak Directview CR 850 Systems; Colorado Springs Health Partners (Colorado Springs, Colo.) ordered a Carestream RIS and KODAK Business Diagnostics; Knoxville Hospitals & Clinics (Knoxville, Iowa) ordered a Carestream PACS and KODAK Directview CR 825 and 850 Systems; Montclair Radiology (Montclair, N.J.) ordered a Carestream RIS and Kodak Business Diagnostics; Radiology Services of N.Y. (Staten Island, N.Y.) purchased a Carestream PACS and Carestream RIS; and The Memorial Hospital of Salem County (Salem, N.J.) ordered a Carestream PACS.


Streamline Health Solutions announced that the Health Information Management Department at University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, will upgrade to Streamline Health's enhanced document management solutions. The expansion to Coding Workflow software will allow hospital administrators to create a more flexible work environment, increase responsiveness, and improve efficiency without leaving their desks.


MedAssets Supply Chain Systems, a group purchasing and supply chain management organization, has selected Neurostar Solutions to provide its Virtual Radiology Network (VRN) to MedAssets’ 27,000 acute care hospital and alternate care healthcare provider customers.  As a contracted vendor, Neurostar will offer its digital image management at a specially-contracted rate to MedAssets’ customers.


McKesson's Horizon Homecare advanced clinical software solution was chosen by Intermountain Healthcare to create enterprise wide access to patients’ clinical records. By using the software, the nonprofit health system based in Salt Lake City, Utah, will make information available to 450 clinicians working in 13 branches across Utah and Southeastern Idaho, to simplify clinical processes, promote integration, and support patient outcomes.


Siemens Medical Solutions said it signed contracts with 21 new customers in 2006, either at rural or community healthcare facilities, who plan to install the MedSeries4 (MS4) health information system (HIS), which was designed specifically for these types of providers. Additionally, 40 existing customers received enhancements through the purchase of MS4 Clinicals modules.

MS4 is a Web-based, flexibly designed system built to adapt to a community hospital's needs, whether a single facility with as few as 20 beds or a multi-entity enterprise with more than 1,000 beds.

The customers that have added MS4 Clinicals modules include: Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center, a 25-bed critical access facility in Chanute, Kan.; Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, a 216-bed general medical and surgical care facility in Nacogdoches, Texas; East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System, a system of 14 hospitals; as well as Valley General Hospital, a 72-bed facility in Monroe, Wash. and Caldwell Memorial Hospital, a 110-bed community hospital in Lenoir, N.C.

Additionally, Platte Valley Medical Center, a community hospital in Brighton, Colo., has installed the MS4 Remote Computing Option (RCO) configuration and has been able to deploy browser-based nursing applications without incurring the additional cost of system upgrades and hardware, the company said.


The TriZetto Group said that BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is seeing benefits from its initial launch of TriZetto’s real-time patient liability and point-of-service claims adjudication software, Provider POS Direct.  The health plan has installed Provider POS Direct in two of five pilot provider offices. The health plan expects to complete the rollout of the technology to the remaining three pilot offices by the end of the Q1. BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee serves 2.3 million members and is the largest insurer in the state.
