Compressus features new MEDxConnect software version
Compressus showcased the next generation of its suite of Enterprise Systems Integration software with the release of the MEDxConnect System version 2.5 at the 94th annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America, held Nov. 30 through Dec. 4 in Chicago.
The new release features a full integration with GE Centricity PACS and enhancements to Compressus’ interoperability solutions package, according to the Washington, D.C.-based company.
“It’s not about DICOM-driven workflow, or HL7-driven workflow—it’s about individual customer-driven workflow,” Ed Schuler, product manager, medical imaging solutions, Compressus, told Health Imaging News.
MEDxConnect is the first and only software solution that indexes, integrates and routes all relevant patient medical information in real time, enabling organizations with disparate multi-vendor systems to function as one virtual enterprise, he noted. Featuring a collaborative development and testing process, MEDxConnect is fully interoperable with GE Centricity PACS and Centricity IW. Compressus said it also recently completed new integrations with Philips iSite, Hologic SecurView, Visage Imaging and PowerScribe speech recognition software.
In addition to pre-fetching the user-configured number and type of studies and patient information, the system now also provides a list of other data that is available should the physician want it to make their read. Users now have the option to permanently attach this new data to the original study packet, ensuring that it is available for referring physicians or future reads.
Other new features include the Order Management Module OM2 module, which automatically creates an electronic order in cases where there is no RIS. Needed for other systems in the Enterprise, such as voice recognition, to acknowledge and process the exam packet, the OM2 now creates the order in HL7. The Study forward feature enables users to pass studies to specialists or colleagues for consultations. Previously, studies could not be forwarded or passed once they were claimed. Version 2.5 also expanded the ability for groups to customize routing and worklist rules through general, modality and subspecialty worklists, according to the company.
“With the next generation of the MEDxConnect System, we have expanded its capabilities to address all markets, from general imaging to subspecialty, and provide fast, effective, accurate, and affordable solution providing seamless connectivity and interoperability,” said Janine Broda, vice president and general manager for Compressus’ Medical Solutions Division.
