Elkin acquires veterinary distributor of Philips ultrasound family

Eklin Medical Systems, a developer of DR, PACS and practice management software for veterinary care practices, has completed its acquisition of Ultrasource, the U.S. veterinary distributor of Philips Medical Systems’ ultrasound product line.

The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company said the acquisition adds an additional medical imaging modality to the company’s Eklin Digital Practice family and fulfills its clients’ demand for ultrasound solutions.

Ultrasource offers Philips, Sonoscape and Siui ultrasound systems for small animal, equine, exotic and zoo animals, according to Elkin. Applications include cardiology, internal medicine, reproduction, musculoskeletal and other soft tissue anatomy. The company said that the color and pulse wave Doppler settings also monitor blood flow velocity and volume.
