Agfa delivers imaging, informatics to Basque region
Agfa HealthCare has delivered the first phase of imaging and informatics products at several of the Basque Healthcare Department's 28-site Osakidetza facilities in Spain.
Agfa said it was selected in late 2007 to install its Impax 6 PACS, a centralized RIS, 59 CR systems and 52 diagnostic imaging printers across five hospitals and 23 primary care centers in the Basque region of northern Spain.
The contract also foresees the delivery of 19 full-leg full-spine CR systems and an Impax PACS providing clinical applications integration with speech recognition systems. The group's existing third-party products and hospital information systems will be interfaced with the new software, which will serve more than 150 radiologists and 2,000 clinicians, according to Agfa.
Osakidetza, an organization belonging to the Basque Healthcare Department, manages 18 hospitals, more than 300 primary care centers, employs around 5,300 healthcare professionals and a staff of 25,000, and covers a population of more than two million, Agfa said.
