Carestream scores Austrian PACS install

Carestream Health has installed its PACS product in three military hospitals in Austria to aid medical exams for soldiers, civil servants and military attaché.

The solution consists of installations at Wien-Stammersdorf in Vienna, together with hospitals at Graz and Innsbruck, all of which are linked to a central PACS archive in Vienna, according to the company.

The process to replace the existing PACS in these hospitals was conducted by the National Defence Ministry for Armament and Procurement.

The Wien-Stammersdorf handles more than 130,000 outpatients and around 6,000 in-patient treatments annually. The main focus is on army and disaster medical services, along with standard medical specializations.

The hospital will now be able to make real-time evaluations of sensitive and serious cases with colleagues in Innsbruck and Graz via the data connection. Plans are also in hand to utilize the PACS to aid remote diagnosis for soldiers who are deployed abroad, Carestream said.
