Alpha Innotech, GE Healthcare ink deal

San Leandro-based Alpha Innotech Corp. has entered into a "significant" license and supply agreement with GE Healthcare. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Under terms of the GE agreement, privately held Alpha Innotech, already slated to merge with Broomfield, Colo.-based Xtrana Inc this fall, assuming shareholders approve the combination, will develop, manufacture and supply a line of proprietary research imaging equipment to GE Healthcare. The company's sophisticated imaging equipment is primarily used by biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, as well as research universities.

GE Healthcare sells a number of laser scanning systems and reagents and media used in the type of imaging equipment that Alpha Innotech manufactures. "This partnership completes our portfolio of imaging products," said Keiko Hattori, GE Healthcare's head of global marketing for discovery systems.
