ASRT to honor five with life member, fellow status
Norman L. Hente, MS, will become ASRT’s newest life member, the 23rd society member to be elevated to such a status since 1938. Hente is co-owner and president of BarNor Services, a firm in the Greater St. Louis area specializing in staffing, educational product development and meeting support for the radiologic science profession. Life members are active ASRT members who have maintained continuous membership for at least 30 years, have participated in a range of volunteer activities, and must be selected by at least a three-quarters vote of the ASRT board of directors.
Four other members will receive the status of honorary fellow from ASRT. The fellows are:
- Michael DelVecchio, technical director for BWH Radiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston;
- James N. Johnston, PhD, director of interdisciplinary education for Midwestern State University's College of Health Sciences and Human Services in Wichita Falls, Texas;
- Paul F. Laudicina, MA, of Long Beach City College in California; and
- Bartram James Pierce, lead technologist at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis, Ore.
The ASRT established the honorary fellow category in 1956 to recognize members who have made outstanding contributions to the profession and to the ASRT. Fellows have volunteered in leadership positions at the national and local levels, written articles for publication, presented at professional meetings and helped advance the radiologic science profession.
