BRACCO to offer Gastrografin in 30mL fill size

Bracco Diagnostics Inc. this week said it will offer Gastrografin (diatrizoate meglumine and diatrizoate sodium solution USP) in a 30mL product fill size.

Gastrografin is a iodinated radiopaque contrast medium for oral or rectal administration which is lemon-flavored and water-soluble used for radiographic examination of segments of the gastrointestinal tract such as the esophagus, stomach, proximal small intestine and colon. Its key use is contrast enhancement in computed tomography of the torso, Bracco said.

The 30mL fill size has been established with hopes to accommodate market needs for various imaging applications like CT colonography or virtual colonoscopy, among others. Bracco said the number of virtual colonoscopy procedures performed each year in the United States is expected to reach 350,000 by 2006.
