Del Global posts $3.5 million loss in Q1 2010
Del Global Technologies has reported a net loss of $3.5 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2010, substantially greater than the $600,000 loss reported in the first quarter in 2009.
The diagnostic imaging manufacturer reported net sales of $11.6 million in the first quarter, which ended Oct. 31, a decline of 18.6 percent from the $14.2 million posted in the first quarter of 2009. The company attributed the decline to decreased volume from the Medical Systems Group, where net sales declined 17.3 percent to $9.5 million from $11.5 million in the prior year’s first quarter, as a result of decreased international customer orders.
The company noted its decision to sell certain assets and product lines of its Del Medical Imaging, wholly-owned subsidiary, to an affiliate of United Medical Group. "This business represented the U.S. imaging business and was part of the company’s Medical Systems Group. This decision does not include or impact the operations of the company’s Villa subsidiary, which will make up the whole of the Medical Systems Group going forward," Del Global said.
