Dell releases new lightweight notebook
Dell this week introduced the Latitude X1, a lightweight notebook computer designed with traveling professionals in mind.
The Latitude X1 combines the latest mobile processors, a wide screen display, and has a keyboard that focuses on usability, said Alex Gruzen, senior vice president of Dell's Product Group.
With the rigors of traveling life in mind, the Latitude X1 has been designed with an LCD back that is reinforced to withstand any blows it might endure while being hauled through an airport, or airplane. Also, the keyboard is sealed to protect against spills.
Other features include a 12.1-inch, wide-aspect display with shorter height than traditional screens and fits easily in tight spaces, including tray tables pinched by fully reclined seats; a small power adapter that is almost 50 percent smaller than the typical Latitude power adapter; and is configurable with the optional six-cell battery ($129), with which users can expect up to six hours of battery life while adding only 0.3 pound.
Dell said the Latitude X1 has a starting price of $1,699.
