Edwards gets FDA greenlight for heart valve

Edwards Lifesciences, a provider of heart valves, has received approval from the FDA for the Carpentier-Edwards Perimount Magna Ease aortic heart valve.

The new valve includes a low profile and smooth commissure posts to ease insertion through small incisions or small aortic roots, according to the Irvine, Calif.-based company. Magna Ease heart valves include leaflets treated with the Carpentier-Edwards ThermaFix process--a dual-action tissue treatment designed to confront major calcium binding sites.
