Embrella lands CE Mark for embolic protection device

The European Union has granted CE Mark of approval to Embrella Cardiovascular’s aortic embolic protection device Embolic Deflector, to be marketed throughout Europe.

According to Wayne, Pa.-based Embrella, the protection device acts as a protective shield against debris and calcifications that may embolize the brain during transcathter aortic valve implantation procedures.

The device has been previously approved in Europe for use in high-risk patients with severe aortic stenosis.
