FDA clears OCT for endoscopy

The FDA has cleared NinePoint Medical’s Nvision VLE Imaging System, a volumetric optical coherence tomography (OCT) device for endoscopic imaging.

According to Cambridge, Mass.-based NinePoint, the Nvision VLE Imaging System is indicated for use as an imaging tool in the evaluation of human tissue microstructure by providing 2D, cross-sectional, depth visualization. It uses a circumferential scanning technique and an automatic pullback to generate cross sectional and longitudinal images simultaneously. Clinicians can then analyze and act on these images to detect, diagnose and treat disease, the company said.
