FDA clears Withings' iPhone and iPad blood pressure app

Withings has received FDA 510(k) clearance for its blood pressure monitor for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.

The monitor measures and records blood pressure readings for professional, home or mobile use. The cuff wraps around a user's arm and plugs into an iPad, iPhone or iPod touch where it opens the app to begin measurement. Once the reading is complete the full results are saved on the device and can be accessed from the device or from the user's personal Withings web page, according to the Issy les Moulineaux, France-based consumer electronics company.
